HP Thin Clients (t5745) with ThinPro image

Note: My company used HP Thin Clients (t5747) about 90 Devices.

Based on Debian 5.0
Desktop Panel is Xfce

Issue: Problem sound system
All sound and video was working, apart from microphone. I want to use the Skype program.

$ lspci -k |grep Audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)

Additional packages: Skype 2.1 Linux, v4l (Video For Linux) and libxss1

I tested installation additional sound system used PulseAudio for Skype (Microphone still not work)

And test on ALSA of primary sound system (Microphone still not work)

How to fix?

Please provide us the following details so that we could understand the issue better:

1. Since when you have been experiencing the issue?

2. Are the any recent changes on the hardware/software of the notebook?

3. Are you able to get any error message on display while trying to access microphone on the unit?

4. Also, let us know if you have attempted any troubleshooting steps on this unit

5. Are you able to get any error message while trying to shuts down the unit?

However, I would request you to perform following troubleshooting steps and get back to us with the results so that we would be able to assist you promptly.

1. Please check in device manager whether the unit detects the Microphone or not.

2. Check whether the microphone is working by following below steps and check for the issue.

Make sure the microphone is functional by connecting it to a recording device such as a tape recorder. Record your voice into the recording device using the computer microphone. If the microphone successfully records your voice, test the microphone in the computer again.

3. Please connect an external microphone to the unit and check for the issue.

Please note that, we do not support Linux operating system related issues here. Hence, I would request you to contact Linux for further assistance.

With regards to Skype for the thin client, I regret to inform you that, the unit do not support skype on it.

Please provide us with your complete street address with the postal code and alternative phone number for further processing this case.

Dear Support,

[1] I test step by step from the link as below. From original operating system (No modify packages)

Microphone still not work. I think the problem noises in ALSA recording for 8 Bits format.

Step by step on openSUSE distro fine working.

[3] You make sure HP t5745 Thin Client the microphone it work

I understand from the case updates that, you had performed the troubleshooting steps and found that the microphone works fine and issue is with the recording.
